CAlifornia Black Census and Redistricting Hub

A Project of California Calls

Statewide Initiative Strategy & Project Management

The census and redistricting shape how communities are represented, how public resources are distributed, and whose needs receive attention. The CA Black Census and Redistricting Hub brought organizations and leaders together across California to strengthen Black participation in both processes.

Our partnership

Good Influence served as project manager for this ambitious statewide initiative, coordinating the many people, organizations, resources, and workstreams required to move a shared agenda forward.

The work spanned operations, communications, outreach, advocacy, fundraising, and strategic partnerships. Good Influence managed $2.8 million in funding and coordinated staff, consultants, vendors, and organizational partners working on the 2020 census and 2021 redistricting efforts.

The Hub also required strong connections among community knowledge, research, policy, and political leadership. Good Influence brokered and managed partnerships with leading university research institutes, advocacy organizations, and Black elected leaders—bringing different forms of expertise and influence into the work.

Communications and thought leadership made the initiative’s purpose and learning visible. Reports, public events, and digital content elevated what the Hub was hearing from Black communities across California and helped connect those voices to the broader work of representation and power.
