Coordinating staff, consultants, and vendors to execute the 2020 census outreach and 2021 redistricting programs
Brokering and managing partnerships with UC Berkeley’s Othering and Belonging Institute, the UCLA Bunche Center for African American Studies, Advancement Project CA, and the USC Equity Research Institute, as well as key Black community leaders throughout California
Overseeing strategy and content for the CA Black Hub’s thought leadership blog, reports, and stakeholder events
Why the CA Black Census and Redistricting Hub Matters:
For Black lives to truly matter, we must have Black political representation and power. This means expanding greater access to the franchise of American democracy—from Black engagement in the census and redistricting, to voting, legislating, and policy making. Since October 2019, the CA Black Hub has reached out to over 300,000 Black Californians, developed a network of trusted Black community and thought leaders, and secured the strategic resources and partnerships needed to strengthen Black representation in the 2020 census and redistricting process.
