a convener and a catalyst
Where Good Influence Comes In: Stakeholder Engagement and Strategic Planning
Good Influence is helping the organization articulate and operationalize a theory of change that centers racial justice. The theory of change will ground and guide the organization’s strategic plan and commitment to racial equity and justice, as well as its major decision-making around grants, advocacy, communications, and strategic partnerships. Working with the CEO, senior leaders, and board members, Good Influence is also integrating principles of organizing and relationship-based fundraising to deepen engagement and giving within businesses across Los Angeles County.
Good Influence’s Deliverables:
Conducting stakeholder interviews with employees as well as community, philanthropic, and business leaders to understand perspectives on the organization’s role, superpower, kryptonite, and relationship to racial justice
Articulating a theory of change that will serve as a guiding framework for how the organization approaches systemic change
Leading a taskforce of business leaders to develop a set of pilot programs for engaging their employees in UWGLA’s theory of change, commitment to racial justice, and fundraising
Designing and facilitating a series of board retreats focused on helping the board center racial justice in its evolution and governance
Why United Way of Greater Los Angeles Matters:
A well-known and trusted brand, UWGLA is a convener of people and a catalyst for change. Its ability to evolve from being a “community chest” organization to one focused on advocacy and systems change, keeps UWGLA 100 years young and still growing.
